club Information

Newbury Road Club serves cyclists in the Newbury (Berkshire, UK) catchment area, approximately 60 miles west of London on the M4 corridor. It has been established since 1925. Whilst it promotes all forms of cycling it is primarily a Road club supporting in particular all forms of on-road riding. In 2005 the club celebrated its 80th Anniversary.
Our membership numbers between 100 and 200, and encompasses the whole spectrum of age with active members from 4 years old up to well into their 70's, both ladies and men, boys and girls. We see our club as having an important function in promoting not only competitive events but also in being a voice and a focus for cyclists in the Newbury area.
Throughout the year the club is able to offer members the opportunity to take part in many different cycling activities or simply just the opportunity to talk with some like minded people.
We are however unable to offer any activities for the absolute beginner. As of Summer 2004 we will be offering a monthly Sunday Club Run aimed at those who want a leisurely Sunday morning ride, the distance will be around 30 miles. Please check the calendar for details.
We are also unable to offer membership to any riders under 16 years of age, except as part of a family group.
Following changes to the insurance cover provided by our affilated bodies, club members are no longer generally covered for 3rd party liability when participating in club activities.
However 3rd party liability insurance is automatically provided for club members participating in CTT promoted Time Trials.
The club strongly recommends that all members take out a membership of the CTC or British Cycling that provides appropriate insurance cover. British Cycling membership is required for members to participate in BC promoted events.
Club officials can provide guidance and information for members wishing to join either the CTC or British Cycling.
